As highly effective treatments for HIV infection are now the norm, patients with HIV infection are living full lives. Since there is significant psychiatric comorbidity in HIV-infected individuals, it is of the utmost importance that psychiatrists are well-versed in the care of patients with HIV infection. In this symposium, sponsored by the HIV Special Interest Group of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, experts will discuss special topics in HIV infection throughout the life cycle. Clinical providers will offer lively, dynamic presentations on HIV in children and adolescents, the impact of HIV on women and reproduction, and the unique challenges presented by HIV infection in the elderly. As these clinicians are active expert treaters of HIV patients, attendees will have ample opportunity to learn from cases and have specific questions addressed in the discussion.
